Manulife Indonesia

Manulife Financial adalah pemegang saham mayoritas Manulife Indonesia, perusahaan asuransi jiwa multinasional yang memulai operasinya di Indonesia pada tahun 1985. Saat ini, Manulife Indonesia tercatat sebagai salah satu perusahaan asuransi jiwa terbesar di Indonesia.

Structure of Manulife Indonesia

  • Manulife Indonesia secara mayoritas dimiliki dan dikelola oleh Manulife Financial, dengan kepemilikan saham sebesar 71 persen. Di tahun 2000, Manulife Financial telah meningkatkan kepemilikan sahamnya dari 51 persen menjadi 71 persen. Hal ini menunjukkan komitmen Manulife kepada para nasabah, karyawan dan pasar Indonesia. Pemilik saham minoritas Manulife Indonesia adalah PT Tirta Dhana Nugraha dengan porsi kepemilikan sebesar 20 persen dan International Finance Corporation (IFC), anak perusahaan Bank Dunia, dengan kepemilikan sebesar 9 persen.
  • · Berkantor pusat di Jakarta, Manulife Indonesia beroperasi melalui 70 kantor cabang yang tersebar di 35 kota di seluruh Indonesia. Manulife Indonesia didukung sekitar 5.000 karyawan dan agen yang bekerja penuh waktu, yang melayani lebih dari 700.000 nasabah.
  • · Manulife Indonesia memiliki tiga unit bisnis utama: asuransi jiwa individu, employee benefits ( Asuransi Jiwa dan Kesehatan Kumpulan, Program Pensiun DPLK) dan jasa investasi (termasuk reksa dana).

Prestasi Manulife Indonesia

  • Manulife Indonesia terpilih sebagai “Indonesia’s Most Admired Company 2003” atau “Perusahaan Yang Paling Dikagumi 2003” untuk kategori Asuransi oleh Frontier Marketing Research dan Majalah BusinessWeek.
  • Pada tahun 2003, Manulife Indonesia meraih penghargaan sebagai “Manajer Investasi Terbaik” dalam pasar reksa dana Indonesia oleh Majalah Investor.
  • Pada Juni 2003, Tim Komunikasi Manulife Indonesia meraih penghargaan “Gold Quill Award of Execellence” dari International Association Business Communicator’s (IABC) untuk kategori Manajemen Issue.
  • Manulife Indonesia terpilih sebagai “Life Insurance Company of the Year-2002” oleh Asia Insurance Review, sebuah jurnal asuransi terkemuka di Asia bersama The Review-Worlwide Reinsurance.
  • Pada tahun 2002, Manulife Indonesia meraih peringkat sebagai salah satu perusahaan asuransi jiwa terbaik di Indonesia dalam pemeringkatan asuransi jiwa tahunan yang dilakukan oleh Majalah InfoBank dan Investor. Manulife Indonesia untuk pertama kalinya juga masuk dalam “Indonesian Customer Satisfaction Index 2002 – Asuransi Jiwa” oleh Frontier Marketing Research & Majalah SWA, September 2002.

Operasi Bisnis Manulife Indonesia

  • In the Indonesian marketplace for the year 2003, Manulife Indonesia ranked as the #1 provider of Indonesia investment management, #1 pension administrator (based on assets), #2 provider of Indonesian pension programs (based on assets), and one of the largest insurance companies in Indonesia.
  • Manulife Indonesia was first to announce a Risk Based Capital (RBC) of 132 per cent in late 2000 – far greater than the government’s minimum requirement of 120 per cent by 2004. Today, Manulife Indonesia has an RBC of 136 per cent.
  • In Indonesia, Manulife has a solid history of strategic acquisitions. In 2003, Manulife acquired Zurich Life Insurance Indonesia & ING Indonesia Life Insurance. In September 2001, Manulife Financial completed the acquisition of The Principal Financial Group’s Indonesian operations. In 1997 and 1998, Manulife Indonesia carried out the purchase of two competitor companies – AMP Panin and Ongko Life – the first such transactions in Indonesia at that time.
  • In May 2000, Manulife Indonesia announced a significant purchase of recapitalization bonds issued by the Republic of Indonesia. This transaction was the first such bond purchase by a non-bank institution, demonstrating Manulife’s support of the efforts being made by the Indonesian Government to recapitalize and reflate the economy.
  • In 1997, Manulife Indonesia became the first insurer to introduce unit-linked products to Indonesia, setting a trend for other companies. This was followed in 1999 by the introduction of the first-ever product in Indonesia tailored exclusively for females.
  • In 1998, as a show of commitment to Indonesia, and seeing the opportunity caused by other companies exiting the market, Manulife became the first life insurer to launch a range of mutual funds. Manulife Asset Management Indonesia (MAMI) was established to manage these assets. Today, MAMI is the largest investment manager in Indonesia based on data supplied by Bapepam (the Indonesian Securities Commission).
  • Yayasan Manulife Peduli (Manulife Care Foundation), is the Company’s charitable foundation that funds education and medical treatment programs for Indonesian children, crisis relief for victims of floods and earthquakes, a small business program to assist female entrepreneurs, as well as sponsoring blood banks and food banks for Indonesia’s needy. Manulife Peduli is currently rebuilding two elementary schools in Sukabumi-West Java.
